Requiring Action Tab
The Requiring Action Tab presents a list of referrals that have been sent back to the practice from a provider or by a triager assigned to review cases by the Local Area Team (LAT). Further information is provided below:

The Requiring Action Tab presents a list of referrals divided into the following columns: Patient Name, NHS Number, Referring Clinician, Days Since Referral, Presenting Complaint and Status. Referrals in this Tab are currently awaiting an action from the referrer and indicated as ‘Further information requested’ or ‘Rejected’ in the Status column.

Referrals may be sorted in ascending or descending order by clicking on each column title. The search function located on the top left hand side of the screen enables users to locate a patient in this tab by entering either: First Name, Surname, Date of Birth (DOB) or Unique Reference Number (URN).

By clicking into a referral, the full history of the referral will be presented including all notes/interactions recorded by user and clearly date-stamped. These notes will be titled either ‘Rejected’ or ‘Further Information Requested.’ In either case, you may select ‘Appeal/Reply’ to respond using the free-text box provided.

If you receive a rejection that you do not wish to appeal, please select ‘Archive’ to remove the referral from your requiring action tab.

To save a copy locally, please select ‘PDF’ to download a full copy of the referral. You may also import the file onto your patient record system or print as required.

Please note:

In some areas, referrals that remain unactioned for more than 6 weeks will be automatically archived and discharged in accordance with locally agreed guidance.

Whether you can resend a referral is based on the status. Referrals in the pending tab may be edited and in some instance, those that require further action. However, if a referral has been discharged or archived you will need to recreate it.

The fallback option is always to create the referral again.

Columns can be adjusted by clicking and dragging to expand any compressed information.
